Blog #2: History of the Internet Reaction

The video helped further solidify my understandings of the beginnings of the Internet. I did not know the the French "Cyclades" played such a large role in helping establish the footings for the inter-net. As other people have commented, it is amazing to see how much the Cold War pushed along the development of the internet as we know it today. I think it would be cool to learn more about how the telephone companies initially got involved with the internet and what type of military contracts they made.
It's crazy to think that the internet which plays such a vital role in our everyday acquisition of news, pop culture, sports, and just plain entertainment was an idea that started over 50 years ago to avoid losing the Cold War. Today, its an uneasy feeling when your internet goes out at home because you can't get on to check what your friends are doing and how many facebook notifications you have, the internet has sure come a long way!
