Practicum Project - Kate

I have the Twitter assignment for the Practicum project. I set up my Twitter account this past week, designed my profile, and starting to play around with the site. While I was familiar with Twitter before this class and had some experience using the site, I did not have a Twitter account. I didn't have much of an opinion about Twitter before this project either, but now that I have set up an account I am really enjoying it!

My favorite part about Twitter so far is that I can follow all of my favorite people and interests and get constant updates all in the same location. I'm currently following FoodNetwork, the PGA tour, UW RecSports, some of my friends, and some others as well. It's cool because I can follow my favorite things, golf and food, my job at Rec Sports, and see what my friends are up to all in the same place. I think it will take me awhile to get in the routine of posting tweets, but so far so good! My Twitter name is K8Meyers if you're interested!

  1. I had to set up a twitter account for my internship over the summer and since then I've been addicted! While on twitter I like to look through who the people I'm following are following. Almost every time I find someone new and interesting to follow. I'm really glad that you're enjoying twitter also!

  2. As a supposed wannabe journalist, I'm somewhat obligated to use Twitter (you know, to present myself as a savvy, forward thinking writer and such). But I've never gotten super into Twitter; maybe it's the character limit or something, but I usually forget to do it in lieu of posting directly to my Facebook page instead.

But if there is one really cool feature about it, it's lists. It allows you to, as the name implies, make lists of Twitter users according to your interests. For the nightlife blog I worked on in Milwaukee, we used Twitter to create lists of Milwaukee bars and clubs that had Twitter accounts. That way, all of the useful info was right there. Definitely try it if you haven't already!
