Practicum #6 - Erika

recently on my blog i found that i could see how many people were looking at my blog, where they were located, and how they got to my blog. under the "stats" tab in the same location that i change the settings of my blog (layout, color scheme etc.)
you could view how many people looked at your blog on the present day, weekly, monthly, or all time. and i was able to make the settings so that it wouldn't count my own personal use of the blog in the stats. so that was pretty cool to see that, but then i got to click on "audience" and under here you could see who was looking at your blog (where they were from). it wasn't a surprise that most of my audience was from the united states, but i was shocked to see that there were people from russia, denmark, greece, ireland, peru, and slovenia looking at my blog as well!
in wondering how people from these other countries heard/saw my blog, i also found in the stats page a place where you could see how people got linked to your blog. i found that there was a bit of traffic coming from google, and i found that people were being linked up to my blog through google images. because i had posted pictures that i personally got from google images on my posts, when they would do a search for images (say "pumpkins") an image that was linked to my blog would come up. therefore, upon clicking the image they would be linked up to my blog...pretty sweet, kinda weird to think about people from around the world potentially using my blog, but i guess it is the internet, it is a global connection.
