After my presentation I got to thinking about how effective the advice on the website is. This interested me because the advice given isn’t from trained professionals but rather people speaking from experience. I chose to do more research and read multiple posts under the advice tab. The questions were pretty standard and the answers were consistent with one another. For example someone asked how they long they should wait until they take a pregnancy test and all nine responses said 1-2 weeks or 19 days.
I came across one question that really stood out. Underoath posted “is there anyway to like, kill it without getting an abortion? I know how horrible it sounds, but ill punch myself in the gut, overdose on some meds, fall down a huge flight of stairs, whatever it takes. i CANT be pregnant.” I thought this was a very odd question to post online because it seems like a very personal and controversial issue to bring up to people you don’t personally know. Some of the responses were very supportive while others criticizing her choice to want to kill her unborn child. I found it interesting how open Underoath was with the idea of wanting to kill “it.”
