YouTube and Hulu

Before I knew the details of this assignment I had watched a video on YouTube today that I found through Twitter. I watched the PostSecret 'Soliders' Secrets' video. The reason I decided to watch this video was because Frank, the founder of PostSecret, tweeted ""Soldiers' Secrets" is the 2nd most viewed video on YouTube today. They want to run ads on it but I said - No." I usually visit YouTube to watch short funny homemade videos or music videos. Until I saw the tweet from Frank I never really thought about the ads that sometimes run across the bottom of the video. This got me thinking about how the advertising is different on Hulu than on YouTube. Granted on Hulu the videos are much longer but the ads interrupt the video while on YouTube the ads simply show up on the screen while the video is playing. Usually I don't mind the ads on Hulu because I use the site to catch up on shows that I missed on TV and I would of had to watch commercials on the television anyways. Today I watched the Halloween episode of The Office and although the ads were slightly annoying I was still grateful for the site because without it I wouldn't have been able to watch the episode at such a high quality.

Below I posted the link to the YouTube video I watched.
